Whether UFOs and other phenomena are considered as physical fact or mental aberration they MUST be studied from a balanced perspective. Weighing both the physical and psychical effects and implications is a necessity if we wish to avoid the extremes of Believer and Debunker (who are both blinded by their own dogma).

Certain researchers have suggested that these phenomena are dangerous and should not be pursued by children or the faint of heart. My Anomalist friends and I all seem to have been interested in these subjects since childhood. And the fact remains that some of these phenomena seem to center around adolescents: Abductions, Psychic Abilities & Poltergeists.

So if you feel compelled to research these subjects despite the fact that many may judge you as a kook, crackpot, or paranoid.............

Falling prey to such narrow vision is easy. Like many a child of the Space Age I grew up on healthy doses of science fiction. I have always believed in (hoped for) the contacting of 'non-human Intelligences,' whether in the past, present or future. It seems immanently logical in a Universe as vast and wondrous as ours. So, as far back as I can remember I have been interested in UFOs, the potentials of the mind, Anomalous Animals, the paranormal and the Occult. Since humanity so often seems bent on its own destruction it is not that surprising that a youth should want to meet Visitors from other worlds.

My interest in these subjects was great but I did little to quench my thirst for knowledge. Up until this point I had been caught within the standard American UFO Mythos: that of crashed saucers and little grey aliens recovered by the government. It was in the mid eighties when my interest suddenly became obsessive that I began voraciously reading and collecting everything I could find on UFOs. This included the study of many peripheral subjects such as the nature of reality and consciousness, apparitions, 'alien animals', Forteana, etc.

It was my exposure to the open-mindedness of experiencer Whitley Streiber and researcher Jacques Vallee which sent me on this headlong quest into the Netherworld of UFOs. Each of their books provided increasing insight into the complexity of the phenomena. From its' physical traces to its' mythic structure.

I quickly found a wealth of information on subjects which each provide a piece to the puzzle of UFOs. These areas of research inevitably lead one away from the Modern Era interpretation of UFOs as ExtraTerrestrial Craft. To me these alternate possibilities are even more earth shattering than simple extraterrestrials in flying saucers. But I must stress that NONE of these theories and hypotheses eliminates the possibility of contact and interaction with true extraterrestrials. Indeed, many of the theories we will discuss would provide perfect cover for true extraterrestrial contact. And I would still love to shake the "hand" of an ET someday.

So let me end this introduction by saying that I believe there is a true UFO phenomena. Once you realize this the hard part begins: trying to pull apart the many threads that make up the knotted weave called the UFO. Each thread is an important peripheral aspect that provides a clue to the true nature of UFO phenomena and our relation to it.

I am most interested in any phenomena linked to apparent interaction or communication with a hierarchy of "Alien" Intelligences. These "lntelligences" may originate from a wide range of sources; from those of the individual and collective human unconscious to those of a myriad other species' collective unconsciouses to a supposed Gaian consciousness or even true material alien/ extraterrestrial entities and other beings normally beyond our perceptions who may be from other dimensions, spacetime continuums, vibrational levels, or realities 'orthogonally' rotated from ours.

Communication with all of these Intelligences seems to be encompassed by UFO phenomena, in its broadest sense. But there is another component to these encounters which can imitate true contact..... those persistent and ubiquitous tales of Mind Control by some secret Agency.
