Unification Theological Seminary Barrytown, NY |
of Moon" In the fall of 1981, Sean Paul Dietz witnessed UFOs on three separate occasions. All sightings occurred within approximately one mile of the Unification Theological Seminary, Barrytown, New York (Barrytown and the Seminary are located on the Hudson river between Kingston and Redhook). Sean was living at the Seminary with his mother who was employed their as Second Nurse. He was 13 years old at the time of the sightings. The first sighting occurred on a partly cloudy day as Sean talked with a student who was operating the Seminary's main entrance security booth. Sean's attention was drawn to a descending object (behind him) by the other witness', gestures. The two of them moved from the booth to the middle of the main drive while mutually confirming what they were both seeing. |
Sean describes the object he saw as a grey, flattened,
cylindrical craft approximately 100 feet long, 20 feet tall, and 40 feet
wide.
The
object had three 'apparent' lighted hemispheres: one yellow on the left
end, one blue on the right end, and a larger red one in the center of the
bottom. He also describes it as having "many features" and "possibly one
or two antennae." The object was completely silent.
A few moments later the left yellow tip of the object
separated soundlessly and then rotated such that the yellow light was pointing
towards the ground. This "module" then moved silently eastward, following
the road towards the "East Gate." Sean felt that "they were checking out
the Seminary" by examining both entrances. At this point Sean wanted an
unobstructed panorama view of both "craft" at either entrance, so he began
running east towards the soccer field. His last memory of this sighting
is of being on the soccer field and seeing one object hovering above each
entrance. He does not remember seeing the objects leave or reporting the
sighting to anyone at the time. Sean has never undergone any sort of regressive
hypnosis but does not rule out the possibility of doing so in the future.
The second sighting occurred at night during the same
week as the previous sighting. Sean recalls sitting anxiously in bed as
he looked out his bedroom window at a stationary red light which appeared
to be across the river and above some hills. The angle of sight was such
that Sean could best see the light from a sitting position on his bed,
giving him the distinct impression that "they were watching me." Using
his pair of binoculars he probed the area around the light for any sign
of a supporting structure. "Perhaps it is a light on a radio tower," he
thought. But if their was a supporting structure the dark night prevented
it being seen. Sean remembers the difficulty of trying to sleep with this
light "watching" him and looking through the binoculars again the next
morning, only to find the known radio towers on the hills opposite the
Seminary across the Hudson river. There was no sign of a structure where
the light had been.
The third and final sighting was during this same week
of events. This time Sean was riding with his mother as they crossed the
bridge spanning the Hudson on the way to Kingston for a shopping trip.
Sean was wondering about the previous week's events when he thought to
look out of the car and up at the sky. There, a couple hundred feet above
the car, was the underside of the cylindrical object with the big red light
underneath. Sean withdrew from looking then took one final look to convince
himself of what he had just seen. "Yep! They must be watching me," he thought.
At this point, he resigned himself to the fact that "They" had an interest
in him. He does not remember ever mentioning this to his mother yet he
had always assumed that he had. When he recently brought it up with her
she was flabbergasted that he had never told her. It also surprised her
because she has recently begun reading the channeled works of the Ashtar
Command and Sananda.
Sean has since had other experiences of a paranormal nature. For a time he was considered quite a 'faith healer.' His attitude about this 1981 sighting is very balanced. He and I have talked at length about the myriad aspects of the phenomena from Earth Lights to Psychotronic Mind Control. Some may speculate the possibility that this "Moony" Seminary was involved in a form of psychological experimentation. Others may note the propensity for UFO and paranormal phenomena in and around the Hudson Valley, New York area. Sightings of UFOs, Sasquatch, Pterodactyls, Balls of Light, etc. have been investigated by J. Allen Hynek (Night Siege, Ballantine Books, 1987), Phyllis M. H. Atwater (as related by Paul Devereaux in Earth Lights Revelation, Blandford Press, 1989) and Ellen Crystall (Silent Invasion, Paragon House [Reverend Moon's Publishing Company], 1991).
Sean continues to feel, intuitively, that what he saw was a true structured craft of an unknown origin. He has read some of the channeled Ashtar Command literature given to him by his mother and identifies with the 'wisdom' he found within. Whatever you think of his experience, I can tell you that Sean is an extremely balanced individual, maintaining steady employment as he explores his musical skills as an up and coming guitar player.
