Floating as high as 50 feet in the air, turning night into day, this 2600-watt artificial sun will illuminate a 15,000 to 20,000 square-foot area with soft, ambient lighting. This revolutionary lighting source, previously available to the public audience by rental only, is offered exclusively by Hammacher Schlemmer. The 6 1/2 -foot diameter sun ball has been used on movie sets, commercial tapings, at the 1997 Superbowl and the 1996 Republican Convention. It is suitable for use indoors and outdoors or anywhere standard lighting is not readily available or sufficient-picnics, parades, sporting events, lawn parties, pool decks, tennis courts or banquet halls. Inside this sphere, which is constructed of a white, coated nylon, are four 650-watt halogen bulbs. Inflated with helium the sun ball will remain aloft for up to eight hours while attached to a tether cable. An electronic switch box with on/off and high/low controls is wired to the tether and has an 8-foot long power cord that plugs

directly into a 110-volt household outlet. For use outdoors, the tether can be held firmly in place by a horseshoe-shaped, metal ground anchor. To adjust the height of the sun ball (up to 50 feet), just reposition the ground anchor. Should the ball descend unexpectedly during use, an automatic cutoff switch is activated. Lightweight, and portable, it can be folded for carry or storage in a 20 x 20 x 12-inch vinyl case (included). Not intended for use in winds above ten miles per hour.
